Orálny lichen planus – súčasný pohľad na etiopatogenézu, diagnostiku a skríning ochorenia

Orálny lichen planus (OLP) je chronické zápalové ochorenie, s neistou etiológiou, postihujúce sliznice dutiny ústnej. Obvykle sa môžu striedať obdobia exacerbácií a remisií, ktoré môžu pretrvávať roky. Aj napriek tomu, že sa viacero štúdií venovalo potenciálnym etiologickým faktorom, patofyziológii, klinickej manifestácii a diagnostike, nebol doposiaľ dosiahnutý konsenzus v týchto oblastiach. Tento článok poskytuje prehľad súčasnej literatúry týkajúcej sa týchto aspektov OLP a snaží sa využiť tieto informácie pre pochopenie ochorenia, čo je potrebné pre správnu liečbu pacienta.

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting oral mucosa of uncertain etiology. It can vary between periods of exacerbation and remission, often persisting for several years. Although numerous studies were dedicated to the potential etiology, pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical manifestations and diagnostic criteria, no consensus on these topics has been reached yet. This article provides a comprehensive review of the current literature on these aspects of OLP and attempts to use these information to properly understand the disorder, which is essential for providing the treatment to the patient with OLP.
